Aaron Rodgers’ quest to make an improbable return this season for the New York Jets appears over. The 40-year-old quarterback said during his weekly appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday he’s not yet 100% healthy in his recovery from a torn left Achilles tendon and is still a few weeks away.Rodgers said if the Jets had won last Sunday at Miami and remained in the postseason hunt, he “would have pushed it as far as I could this week” even at less than fully healthy to be ready to play against Washington on Sunday. But the Jets were routed 30-0 and eliminated from the playoff hunt for the 13th straight year.“If I was 100% today, I’d be pushing to play,” Rodgers said. “But I’m not. … I pushed it as far as I could.”Rodgers never firmly said he won’t play this season, but strongly indicated that is the case. The Jets opened the 21-day practice window for Rodgers on Nov. 29 and have until Wednesday to activate him from the injured reserve list. ...Freshman OL Cayden Green transferring home from Oklahoma to Missouri. All the attention surrounding quarterbacks who switch schools has overshadowed how the transfer portal has affected the way colleges try to stockpile talent at other positions. The Associated Press measured the impact of the transfers by tracking the top 20 prospects at every position each year from 2019-22, as rated by composite rankings of recruiting sites compiled by 247Sports.As expected, the most impacted position was quarterback. Nearly two-thirds of those 80 quarterbacks already have switched schools or are currently in the portal. But about 55% of the cornerbacks and about half of the safeties, running backs, wide receivers and inside linebackers also have either transferred or are in the process of doing so.All that movement is having a trickle-down effect on high school recruiting that has become apparent heading into Wednesday’s start of the December signing period. Since teams have a chance to fill holes in their roster with more proven players, high school prospects don’...Courtois says he won’t play at Euro 2024 due to injury. HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Don’t call it an exhibition.No. 17 UConn is headed to Canada for a game Wednesday against Toronto Metropolitan University, which is not an NCAA team but a member of the Canadian organization U Sports.Rick Nixon, a spokesman for the NCAA, said the game will be recognized as a regular-season contest and all the statistics will count under the organizations’ rules involving “outside competitions.” The only caveat, he said, it that because TMU (10-0) is not an NCAA Division I opponent, a win or a loss won’t be calculated in UConn’s NET rankings for consideration in postseason seeding. The game was scheduled as part of a tradition at Connecticut in which Geno Auriemma tries to give his players from out of state at least one “homecoming” game in their careers at a school near their hometown. This one is for UConn senior Aaliyah Edwards, who is from Kingston, Ontario, and played high school ball in Toronto and is a member of the Canadian n...China, Russia, Iran and Cuba all tried to meddle in 2022 US congressional elections, intelligence assessment finds

(CNN) — Foreign government efforts to target the 2022 US midterm elections appeared to grow compared with the 2018 elections, according to a declassified intelligence assessment released Monday, with a “diverse and growing group of foreign actors” participating. There was no known order from any foreign leader to “undertake a comprehensive, whole-of-government influence campaign” like the one Russia carried out in 2016, according to the report. But the assessment found that China, Russia, Iran and Cuba all tried to meddle in congressional elections in 2022.The intelligence community assesses with high confidence that China “tacitly approved efforts to try to influence a handful of midterm races involving members of both US political parties” – likely as part of a broad series of directives by Chinese Communist Party leaders since 2020 to “intensify efforts to influence US policy and public opinion in China’s favor.”China intensified its efforts to heighten sociopolitical divisions, a...Latest news
