While President Joe Biden’s approval continues to dip amid concerns over his handling of Israel’s sudden war with Hamas, former President Donald Trump’s hold on the Republican electorate remains unchanged, new polling shows.A national poll released by NBC on Sunday shows Trump leading the rest of the Republican field by 40 points and beating Biden by 2 points. Biden’s approval rating has dropped to 40%.“It’s only a slight overall change from September, when Biden’s approval rating was at 41% — which was then tied with his previous low in the poll. MEXICO CITY (AP) — The collapse in central Mexico of a 50-foot (15-meter) tall section of scaffolding on a road project killed five workers and injured three, officials said Sunday.The workers were pouring cement into a huge form on what appeared to be a highway retaining wall, when the form and the scaffolding gave way Saturday, plunging the workers to their deaths in a tangle of metal and wet cement. The Transportation Department said the accident happened in the central state of Hidalgo, and that all personnel on the site had been pulled from the rubble. The structure was being built by a private contractor, and investigations were underway into the cause of the collapse.Work site safety is generally weak in Mexico. (AP) — A man has been found guilty in the death of a woman whose remains were found inside a duffel bag along a rural northwest Missouri road almost two weeks after she was killed at a Kansas City hotel.Marcus Brooks was convicted Thursday of first-degree murder in the death of 21-year-old Ariel Starcher, a mother of two from Independence, The St. Joseph News-Press reports.
